When using any Staines Shopmobility vehicle I agree to the following conditions:
1 That I have been instructed in, and understand the safe use of the vehicle and do not have any condition that would impair my ability to safely operate the equipment that is to be hired to me.
2 To take care of the wheelchair/powered wheelchair/scooter in my charge and not to leave the vehicle unattended at any time, unless it is safely parked and, where applicable, the key removed. Do not alight from the vehicle until it has been switched off by the key.
3 To drive vehicles with due care and attention at all times, using minimum speed when entering or exiting Shopmobility and other premises in the town, and to reduce speed in crowded areas and shops.
4 Not to allow any other person to use vehicle, or to carry passengers, including babies, children or pets. Also, not to have pets on a lead whilst driving a mobility vehicle.
5 That pedestrians have the right of way, and I will be fully aware of pedestrian safety at all times, especially when reversing or manoeuvring.
6 Vehicles must be used on pedestrian walkways only, as they are not insured to be driven on roads (including car park surfaces), except when crossing. When crossing roads use dropped kerbs and crossings wherever possible.
7 Not to use a mobile 'phone whilst the vehicle is in motion.
8 Not to use the vehicle outside the designated area as defined by Staines Shopmobility.
9 Not to hang bags or other items on the handlebars of the vehicle.
10 To return the vehicle in good condition to a Staines Shopmobility member of staff at the Shopmobility Unit, Ground Floor South Block, Two Rivers Retail Park, Staines, no later than 4.15 pm Monday to Saturday (inclusive). An excess hire fee of £5 will be charged for any equipment returned after 4.15 pm.
11 To advise a member of staff regarding any incident or damage to vehicle whilst in my possession. Users will be charged for any damage arising from careless or dangerous use of the equipment.
12 I have received a copy of these Terms and Conditions together with a copy of the 'Guidance points for the safe use of Shopmobility Vehicles' both of which I have read and understood.
Disclaimer: Use of Shopmobility Vehicles is limited to Two Rivers, The Elmsleigh Centre and Staines Town Centre only. You may be required to deposit car keys or driver's licence when hiring vehicles. Shopmobility reserves the right to refuse or withdraw membership at any time, at our discretion. All items such as crutches, walking frames etc left in the Shopmobility premises are done so at the owner's risk. Shopmobility accepts no responsibility for any accidents arising from careless or dangerous use of mobility equipment. All users must abide by the Guidance points for the safe use of mobility equipment and adhere to the terms and conditions of hire at all times.
